Fantastic day of cricket.

On day 3,Hayden and Katich played sensibly in the first session and both scored classy half centuries. Katich down the track to work the ball over mid wicket missed the ball off Mishra to be bowled for well played half century. Then ponting joined the hands of Hayden to play some classy innings to give Australia some sought of fight back to reach India's mammoth total of 613. "Jumbo" Kumble injured his left hand finger while trying to catch Hayden's hard hit ball off Mishra. He then was taken out of the ground by handing over the captaincy to Dhoni. He didnt come on to bowl then. Sehwag was used very well by Dhoni. He removed Hayden, Ponting and Hussey by his brilliant bowling. At the end of day 3

Very Very Special Laxman!!!!!!

Laxman's Special Interest :
VVS Laxman is a very very laxman as he can use his wrist comfortably to find the gap even when the opposition team places 4 to 5 fielders on his favourite On side. This 150 plus score is his 4th 15o plus score in international arena as well as against Australia. This shows that he has real appetite to play big innings against Australia. His ability to score against Australia is a very special gift for India. He now nearly averages 54 against Australia in both home and away series.This innings is special in terms of fastest double century by him which emulates record set by him against the same aussies in 2001 which India won in Kolkata. Among the fabulous four Laxman is the only youngest player in the Indian side. He has left a couple of years to play. It'll be interesting to see him again playing Australia.

Twin tons put India in Command.

Gambhir and Laxman scores double tons for India for the first time in history. This is very very special just because India set this record against World champions,Australia.Earlier today, Gambhir played the supporting role for VVS Laxman. But then Scored comfortably after Laxman reaching his 1oo whereas laxman scored freely by rotating his wrist superbly in the first session too. They together played without losing any wicket at lunch. Soon after lunch Gambhir reached his maiden Double ton that too against Australia as his highest score in the international arena. But fell to a loose shot to Watson. Sourav too followed him. With dhoni doing the cameo role fell for quick fire 27 runs. Laxman with tailanders played the lone hand.When we all waiting what would be the target for declaration, Kumble and laxman together put on 98 runs partnership to torment Australia once again. India all waiting for Laxman to Score his second double hundred against Australia to declare. He scored his double ton and India declared.Laxman has now scored four 150 plus score off his 6 century he scored against Australia so far. With massive 414 runs to avoid follow on Australia walked in to play with Openers Katich and under pressure Hayden. They too played well to walk away the field without losing any wicket. Australia is at 50/0 at the end of second days play. India is in full control of match. With restricting Australia to 300 will definitely favour India to win the match and to wrap up the series.

Gambhir's ton steady India after shakky start

Team News :
India won the toss and chose to bat at feroz shah kotla. India made one change with Mishra coming in for injured Bhajji. Australia too brought in Stuart Clark in place of Peter Siddle.

Day One :
Sehwag and Gambhir opened the innings for India. Lee gave a breakthrough in his early spell by taking Sehwag wicket for just 1 run. And then Mitchell Johnson taking Dravid wicket off to a loose shot. India were tottering at 27-2 at one stage. But Sachin and Gambhir steadied innings without further loss of wicket in the first session. Sachin played beautifully with his formidable strokes but fell cheaply before tea for well played 68 runs.
Gambhir though looked determined to play long innings, wasn't able to score well in his 1st session but after lunch he looked settled for a big innings and played his strokes freely all over the ground. With Laxman, He played aggressive innings after tea. And the scorecard tickled fastly. Gambhir has 2 good partnership. One with Sachin and another with Laxman. Gambhir is now playing at 149*, Laxman at 54* at the end of play for the loss of three wickets.

India's stern test to wrap up the Series.

India beat Australia so convincingly by 320 runs in the second test played at Mohali. And it'll be a stern test for India to wrap up the series in kolta. For both the countries its a crucial test match. After a poor test, Aussies will try hard to win the match to level the series. But for India its important to keep the momentum they showed on Aussies in the second match and to wrap up the series. Aussies concern will be there top order which doesn't look certain to play a long innings with Big Mathew Hayden failed to pile up the runs in both the match. Also failing to read Zaheer thrice in his four innings. The Battle between them is going to entertain the spectators for sure in the third test match. Ricky, Kaitch, Clark and Watson will amend and look to pile up the runs. For India perspective, Bhajji is suffering from toe injury that he picked up in the last test. If he is unfit, Mishra who impressed everyone in his debut match will fill his place in the Indian team. JUMBO is all certain to play his second match in the series. He is raring to go to play in his favourite ground, The Feroshah Kolta where he picked up 55 wickets in just 6 Tests at an impressive average of 15.41. India has the edge to win the match and the series.

Dhoni - The Kaptan!!!!

After the humiliating defeat at the hands of bangladesh and srilanka in the early stages of WorldCup, Dravid resigned as a captain of Indian team. Then Selectors had decided to take India forward by handing over Captaincy to a youngster. There was a race between Dhoni and Yuvraj to be the next Captain of Indian team. But Selectors decided to go with Dhoni who is a cool minded person and was selected ahead of Yuvraj. Dhoni took his first assignment as a captain to lead India in T20 worldcup. Dhoni was lucky to win the T20 worldcup. Since then Dhoni became a superstar overnight. Dhoni was also selected as ODI captain. And Selectors decided to go Dhoni way to drop Ganguly,Dravid and Laxman from ODI Team despite good performance in test series against Aussies. Dhoni once again lucky to win the Australia's ODI tournament which end on a high note. All seems to be working for Dhoni and its time to test his leadership skills in test matches and the time comes for him at the third test against Proteas. Dhoni did well in test as well to win the crucial Third Test to square the series. Its difficult to say Dhoni a good Kaptan of Indian team.

India Square Series

Right from the first session India dominated Proteas to win the Kanpur test and Squared the series 1-1. Being a bowlers Sreesanth and Ishant batted beautifully to give India a lead of 60 runs. Proteas started their 2nd innings with inform Smith and McKenzie. Proteas strong batting lineup shattered by the bowling of Bajji & co on a Spinner friendly pitch. Proteas never controlled their innings to be dismissed for just 121 runs which gave India a target of 62 to win the test. With just 62 runs away to square the series, Sehwag played aggressively but failed to capitalize on the start he provided to be dismissed for 22 runs after scoring back to back 6 of Harris. Jaffer followed him to the pavilion. But Dravid and Ganguly made sure they are going to reach the target without losing any more wicket. As a whole, India took revenge to win the test in just 3 days as Proteas did it at ahmedabad. With this win, India is now ranked 2nd in the ICC test ranking.

MoS : H Singh (Bajji) for his consistent performance throughout the series.

Second day's play of Kanpur Test

India takes a lead of 23 run in the ongoing kanpur test with Ganguly emerging a top scorer for India. Sehwag and Jaffer opened the innings to face the music of Proteas strong bowling attack. Proteas removed both the openers in quick succession. Then Dravid and Laxman joined the party and survived the first session. It was Morkel did the damage with his uneven bounce that he extracted from the green park pitch to remove Dravid and Laxman with a beauty. Ganguly continued his good form to make his 34th halfcentury which helped India to take a lead. Yuvraj and reckless Dhoni gave him the company at the middle for sometime.The Green Park pitch is getting worse day by day producing 19 wickets in just 2 days. India are at 288/9 at the end of second day's play.                           

Dhoni,The Test kaptan too!!!

The crucial Kanpur test turned out to be the first test for Dhoni as a skipper of Indian Team and he did it with ease. Kumble didnt pass the fitness which made Piyush Chawla to get a look in. Yuvraj and Ishant replaces Irfan and RP respectively. South Africa unchanged his playing XI played at ahmedabad. SA won the toss and elected to bat. SA cost just only one wicket in the first session. INDIA fought back well in the next two session with 3 wickets in the second session and 6 wickets in the third session. Dhoni made a good exchange of spell which worked as expected to get wickets. It is difficult to say india ahead in this test. Tomorrow's Play is crucial for both the teams. As far as today's play is concerned, India did well to restrict SA for 265 who once were at 152-1. Smith,Mckenzie and Amla continued their good work at top of the order. Their middle order is a little bit shaky. Its tough pitch to bat on. How indians gonna play the SA's bowling attack. Will Munaf and Powar last 5 days?

After humiliating defeat at ahmedabad,Selectors decided to persist with Munaf and Powar. Munaf has been in & out of the team for a year or so with his fitness still remain unanswered selected in a 16 member squad. Gavaskar in his column raised a question over his team's spirit,but he still able to find a place in an Indian team. With a little swing and movement in his bowling, he can never ever be a threat to South Africans. Then Powar who has been recalled as a cover for Kumble has come from good domestic cricket collecting 25 wicket in ten games will share a bench in Kanpur test if Kumble passes a fitness test on 10th.
